Around 65 participants, ranging from growers and traders to processors, joined today’s German-language RUCIP webinar 2025 to learn about the latest updates to the European trade rules for potatoes (RUCIP) and their practical implementation in Germany. The webinar slides and recording are now available on RUCIP’s website.

The one-hour online seminar was organised by the National German RUCIP Committee. The event was hosted by Stefan Seegers, National RUCIP Delegate, who welcomed the participants and underlined the importance of the RUCIP rules as common foundation for fair and transparent potato trade across Europe. “Open professional dialogue and continuous training are key to strengthening trust in fair trading relationships and ensuring consistent quality standards in the potato sector“, emphasised Seegers.

Cristina Pohlmann, European RUCIP Delegate, and Alexander Bauer from the German RUCIP Committee opened the session with an overview of the RUCIP system’s structure, purpose, and areas of responsibility at both the European and national levels. Particular interest centred on the RUCIP 2025 edition, presented by Ms. Pohlmann. The upcoming revision focuses on greater legal clarity, simplified digital procedures, and a more streamlined structure for evaluations and arbitrations.

First-hand perspectives were then shared by Thomas Herkenrath, Jan Preiss, and Dr. Albert Michael Tilmann, who offered insights from the viewpoints of businesses, arbitrators, experts, and legal professionals. Their contributions illustrated how RUCIP Rules support transparent evidence gathering and swift conflict resolution. An engaging Q&A session followed, giving participants the opportunity to exchange views directly with the speakers.

In closing, Stefan Seegers once again emphasised the importance of ongoing professional development within the potato trade and referred participants to further information available at www.rucip.de.
