A new Dutch-language edition of the RUCIP 2025 Rules and Usages of the Inter-European Trade in Potatoes is now available, providing stakeholders in the Netherlands and Belgium with improved access to the updated framework governing intra-European potato trade.
This translation has been jointly prepared by NAO (Nederlandse Aardappel Organisatie), VAVI and BELGAPOM. It is based on the official English version of RUCIP 2025, which remains the only legally binding text in case of dispute.
RUCIP 2025, in force since 1 October 2025, establishes a harmonised set of trading conditions for the European potato sector. It continues to serve as a key instrument for ensuring legal certainty, facilitating cross-border transactions, and providing efficient dispute resolution through its arbitration and expert mechanisms.
The availability of a Dutch translation aims to:
- Improve accessibility and understanding of the RUCIP framework for Dutch- and Flemish-speaking operators;
- Support correct and consistent application of the rules in daily trading practices;
- Strengthen awareness of contractual obligations, particularly in cross-border transactions.
While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the translation, users are strongly advised to consult the English version alongside the Dutch text, as only the English version is binding.
The Dutch foreword also recalls important practical recommendations for traders:
- To explicitly include RUCIP in contracts when engaging in international transactions;
- To apply national trading conditions for domestic transactions where appropriate;
- To ensure that general terms and conditions, such as RUCIP, are properly communicated to contractual counterparts in accordance with applicable national legislation.
